Programming Week: In Kemerovo, students learned to create game platforms

On October 19-21, 2017, the UNITY3D city Hakaton and Khakatato Day was held in Kemerovo for students of higher and secondary professional institutions as part of the Meet and Code international initiative and the European programming week. Within three days, students worked in a team with programmers and met a new gaming environment.

Unity is a tool for developing two- and three-dimensional applications and games working under Windows, Linux and OS X.

Khakaton was attended by 65 participants from universities and technical school of the city of Kemerovo: Kemerovo State University (KemSU), Russian Economic University named after V.G. Plekhanova, Kuzbass State Technical University. T.F. Gorbacheva, Siberian Polytechnic College.

With a welcoming speech, the opening made:

• Leukhova Maria Gennadievna, vice -rector for educational and organizational work of KemSU.
• Pfetzer Sergey Aleksandrovich, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Science of the Kemerovo Region for Science and Professional Education.
• Dubovaya Lyudmila Sergeevna, head of the department of general and additional education of the Department of Education of the Kemerovo Administration.
• Semikhina Marina Vyacheslavovna, Director of Project Management of the Web Studio "Atwinta" , head of the department of Good Line.

Participants were offered to develop their game using Unity tools, design and implement a mobile application or choose a free topic.

The result of three -day work was 11 projects, of which the expert commission noted the three most worked out and completed projects:

• The 3rd place was taken by the Quanect project (KemSU) - a two -dimensional game with the possibility of switching between realities. Team: Nikolai Krivosheev, Sergey Chernenko, Yuri Krivoshein .
• The 2nd place was taken by the Skystranger project (KemSU)-the game of puzzle-headed. Team: Artem Smal, Yegor Katkov, Nikita Malyshev, Sergey Sidorov.
• The 1st place was taken by the BPCVR project (KemSU and the Siberian Polytechnic College) - the program is a virtual simulator, where a player using virtual reality points can collect and disassemble a system unit. Team: Yegor Volokin, Andrey Shvauk, Andrey Mikichur, Ivan Byzov, Andrey Prokha, Mikhail Nagibin.

Each of the projects received prizes and gifts from partners and sponsors of the project: the DNS digital and household appliances store, the ATVinta web studio , the Coursera online platform.

Hakatonian Day

For 25 high school students from the schools of the city of Kemerovo and the Kemerovo region, they held a "Khakatonian Day".

Participants visited a master class on the development of mobile applications and their promotion. As a result, schoolchildren tried to create applications and mini-projects on the Android Studio platform.

At the end of the day, the jury chose three winners ( Daniil Sakharov, Stepan Frolov, Grigory Boyko ), who went to commemorative prizes from Kemerovo State University and the DNS digital and household appliances store.

The first place was taken by the Credit Calculator application . The application offers to enter the loan amount, an annual interest rate and the number of months to calculate the amount of the monthly payment. If the percentage is more than 20, a warning is displayed that it is better not to take such a loan.
