MMKF-2018 transferred to spring

The anniversary, 40th Moscow International Film Festival (MMKF) will be held in 2018 in the spring, not in the summer, and will begin at the end of April.

This was reported by TASS with reference to the President of the MMKF Nikita Mikhalkov.

Interfax Mikhalkov said that the festival will begin at the end of April. “Exact dates are being clarified,” he added.

According to a member of the organizing committee of the MMKF Leonid Vereshchagin, the transfer of the timing of the MMKF-2018 from June to April is associated with the World Cup.

“All the dates of the class festivals to which the MMKF belongs is the former class“ A ”according to the international classification is regulated by the International FIAPS organization, in which Russia is one of the members. All dates are regulated, and given that in Russia and in Moscow, in particular, the MMKF dates will be held in the World Cup, now the organization is puzzled and concerned about to find dates for the Moscow festival. Since it will be impossible to hold the festival on traditional dates-due to hotel employment, infrastructure, traffic flows, interests that will arise with a potential viewer and so on, ”Vereshchagin explained.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15 in 11 cities of Russia, including Moscow.
