© TsSI "Vinzavod"On November 20, in the “New Cosmology” cycle of the philosophical club of the Center for Contemporary Art “Vinzavod” in Moscow, the Italian neurobiologist Stefano Mankuso will give a lecture “Diamond Green: Plant Consciousness”.
Stefano Mankuso - professor of Florentine University, director of the International Laboratory of Plant Neurobiology in Florence, founder of the International Society for behavior and transmission of signals among plants.
According to Mankuzo, complex living creatures capable of perception, struggle, communication, memorization, training and social life. Their organization, physiology and behavior are very different from animals, so plants are difficult to perceive as full -fledged living organisms. Plants lead an attached lifestyle, animals are free in their movements; The first are slow, the second are quick; Plants process solar energy, and animals consume it through plant foods. They differ in everyone except one thing: possessing intelligence, plants and animals achieve their goals and successfully solve pressing problems.
Curator of the Philosophical Club of the Winzavod Anastasia Shavlokhova:
We planned the “New Cosmology” cycle as an experimental appeal to the look of science, which is extremely closed and far from a person, such as, for example, plant neurobiology that could immerse us in a new slice of reality. This is a kind of science fiction of the 21st century. Through approximation to similar, so far, so far marginal, but in fact comprehensive disciplines, we want to show the possibility of modern science to scale from private to common through the rejection of a fragmented study of the world. Stefano Mankuso’s studies and his laboratories clearly demonstrate, as by studying the neurobiology of plants, we can move away from the usual anthropocentric understanding of the world. ”
The lecture will take place in the vintage hall, beginning at 19:30, the entrance is free, on registration .
