The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case of murder against Alexander Kopytov, a resident of an apartment in Izhevsk in which an explosion allegedly took place on November 9. Kopytov's detention was announced on 10 November.
The case was initiated under the article “the murder of two or more persons committed in a generally dangerous way” (Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to investigators, the motive for the crime was personal hostility. The UK said that "the investigation has doubts about Kopytov's mental health", he will be assigned a psychiatric examination.
The Investigative Committee did not specify any details of the crime, including whose murder the detainee planned to kill. It was reported that he lived in the apartment with his mother.
According to an Interfax source, Kopytov had a conflict with his mother. The woman is alive and "was at the investigator's yesterday," the source said.
