Rostelecom will provide high-speed Internet to 32 medical institutions in villages of the Novosibirsk region

In 2017, Rostelecom will provide services to 32 medical organizations in 14 municipal districts of the Novosibirsk Region within the framework of the state contract for connecting medical institutions (HCIs) to the Internet.

Of the 340 km of fiber-optic communication lines (FOCL), 320 have been built. Many district hospitals, outpatient clinics, district hospitals and polyclinics included in the federal project already use the Internet with a data transfer rate of at least 10 Mbps. The rest will be connected by the end of November.

The project included the construction of interstation fiber-optic communication lines and the laying of the so-called "last mile" of optics. 15 medical institutions belong to the first category. That is, to connect these facilities to the Internet, it was first necessary to build 313 km of fiber optic lines to settlements. The remaining health facilities are located in villages where optical communication lines already exist, it was necessary to stretch the cable directly to the hospitals. The total length of such communication lines in the territories of all 32 settlements is about 25 km.

“The FOCL route for rural hospitals in the Novosibirsk Region under a state contract is the longest in Siberia,” said Yury Kupriyanov, director of the Novosibirsk branch of PJSC Rostelecom. — The company has not built more than 300 km of communication lines under this federal project in any Siberian region. We were given a very serious task, which we were able to solve successfully and in a very short time.”

As a result, in the Kochenevsky district, according to a federal project, outpatient clinics in the villages of Tselinnoye, Povarenka, Shagalovo and Novomikhailovka were connected to high-speed Internet. In the Iskitimsky district, medical institutions in the villages of Novovolokti and Keramkombinat received access to the global network, in the Ordynsky district - Petrovsky and Kirza. In the Karasuk district, the program included the Oktyabrskaya district and Karasuk central district hospitals, as well as the Irbizinskaya, Studenovskaya and Khoroshenskaya outpatient clinics.

In Siberia, Rostelecom will provide 349 medical institutions with the Internet within the framework of a state contract by the end of this year. In Russia as a whole, this figure will reach 3,134. According to preliminary data, next year, in order to fulfill the order of the President of the Russian Federation, 13,890 rural hospitals will have to be provided with high-speed Internet access.

The created infrastructure will make it possible to use telemedicine technologies in Russia and improve the quality of medical care.

Rostelecom in the Novosibirsk region connects rural medical institutions to the Internet also within the framework of the regional 500+ program and its own investment projects.
