1917 Revolt of the Junkers in Petrograd

A hundred years ago, on November 11, 1917, an uprising of junkers began in Petrograd, designed to support the attack on the city by the troops of Kerensky and Krasnov. The center of the uprising, which was headed by the Social Revolutionary Committee for the Salvation of the Motherland and the Revolution, was the Engineering Castle, where the cadets of the Nikolaev Engineering School were located. They managed to occupy the telephone exchange and begin disarming the Red Guards.

However, other parts of the garrison did not support the uprising. By the morning of the next day, it was suppressed. In addition to the Nikolaev School, the Vladimir Military School, which was occupied by the Reds only after artillery shelling, put up especially fierce resistance. More than 200 people were killed and wounded on both sides.
