Medinsky opened a monument to Ivan III in Kaluga

In Kaluga today, November 12, the opening ceremony of the monument to the Russian Tsar Ivan III was held, in which the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky took part, RIA Novosti reports.

The monument is a bronze sculpture 10.5 meters high, it is installed on the old bargain on Kaluga Square. The author of the monument was Russian film director Andrei Konchalovsky, and financing was carried out from popular donations.

“Today is a joyful day, because today justice is given to one of the greatest, most vivid, powerful, effective, but for some reason underestimated the rulers of our country,” the minister said.

According to him, the Russians owe many to Ivan III - after all, he, having completed the standing on the Ugra on November 11, 1480, "set an end to the liberation of Rus' from the Horde yoke, carried out a number of enormous reforms of the management system, united the Russian lands and issued the first Russian user."
