Amazon officially confirmed the reliability of information that got in the media about the creation of the series "Lord of the Rings" based on the works of John Tolkien.

The official report on this subject states that the production was entrusted to Amazon Studios with the participation of the writer's family, Harpercollins and the New Line Cinema film company. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the project will receive at least a few seasons, and then, possibly, continuations.

It is assumed that the series will show “previously unexplored” storylines, some of which, apparently, belongs to the events that occurred between the “hobbit” and the Lord of the Rings. The names of the director and screenwriter have not yet been named.

At the same time, financial arguments were calculated by hundreds of millions of dollars, since the writer's heirs wanted to receive at least $ 200 million for a film adaptation.

The Lord of the Rings is one of the most famous and popular books of the twentieth century, translated into dozens of languages. The epic of Tolkien had a tremendous influence on world culture and caused the appearance of the phenomenon of role -playing and fantasy as an independent genre.

Among the film adaptations, a special place is occupied by the trilogy, shot by director Peter Jackson, which is one of the largest projects in the history of the cinema.
