The court in St. Petersburg canceled the 250 thousand fine to the priest for the action on October 7

The St. Petersburg City Court overturned the decision of the Krasnoselsky District Court, which fined priest Alexander Khmelev 250,000 rubles. This was reported in the group of the Alliance of heterosexuals and LGBT for equality, whose members were present at the meeting.

The case was sent to the Krasnoselsky court for a new trial.

Khmelev was fined in connection with the October 7 rally in support of Alexei Navalny. He was found guilty under Part 8 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (repeated violation of the procedure for holding a public event). The priest was also arrested for 12 days under Art. 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience to the lawful order of a police officer).

UPD: The City Court of St. Petersburg also canceled fines for Vladislav Sukhetsky and Alexander Matryuk. Earlier, Sukhetsky was accused of repeated violation of the procedure for holding a public action (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and a fine of 250 thousand rubles was imposed. Matryuk was fined 10 thousand under Part 5 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation by the participant of the procedure for holding the event).
