The Central District Court of Chita fined Nikolai Makarov, a student at Trans-Baikal State University, 2,500 rubles and ordered to confiscate his iPhone worth about 40,000 rubles. Makarov was found guilty of promoting Nazi symbols (Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) for a picture on VKontakte, Alexander Andreev told OVD-Info.
This is a photo from the Third Reich, which shows a flag with a swastika and people throwing up their hands in a Nazi salute. One of them salutes instead. The picture says: “When you are a Soviet spy and fire wildly.”
“The court did not take into account the fact that this material was posted for the purpose of a joke and that this picture is historical,” Andreev said.
