During the detention on March 14, Gimaliev tried to hide, but broke from the fifth floor and was taken to intensive care with a compression spinal fracture and arms fractures. For treatment, doctors used the Ilizarov apparatus. Soon after the discharge, April 4, the patient was brought to the Soviet district court on a gurney, and the judge sent Gimaliev under house arrest. “The attending physician of Marseille was surprised by how a person in this state can be taken to court,” the support group noted. It was indicated that Gimaliev could not even get out of bed.

In addition to Gimaliev, under house arrest on March 15, the next day after the detention, Ilnaz Saifullin was placed. Together with him, 11 more people took place in the case. None of the accused pleaded guilty.
On October 29, 2009, the Supreme Court of Tataria sentenced the seven persons involved in the terms of 4 to 8 years of strict regime, and gave four another four to 5 years conditionally, and Gimalieva sent for compulsory treatment to a mental hospital.
