The court declared the non-disclosure agreement illegal in the case of insulting atheists

The Prikubansky District Court of the city of Krasnodar declared illegal a non-disclosure agreement taken from a poet accused of inciting hatred towards atheists. Information about this was received from the lawyer of the International Human Rights Group "Agora" Andrey Sabinin.

Poet Maxim Drozdov is charged with inciting hatred against the social group "atheists" - Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code. The reason for initiating a criminal case was a line from a poem about a teacher who was burned at the stake by the inhabitants of a mythical village because she did not believe in God:

There are no people worse than vile atheists, we will still return the Inquisition.

The court found that the investigator signed a non-disclosure agreement illegally. According to the lawyer, the signature actually deprived Drozdov of the right to defense:

The signature on non-disclosure of data on this strange case, forcibly selected by the investigator, violated the right to defense of Maxim Drozdov, depriving him of the opportunity even to discuss defense issues with a lawyer. The investigator, including in public, had the right to speak in an accusatory manner in this case, and the suspect was obliged to remain silent and, in fact, could not defend himself. The court listened to our position, recognized the actions of the investigator as unlawful and unreasonable, and ordered him to eliminate the violations committed.

Drozdov himself declares that the verse, which has become the subject of such interest from law enforcement agencies, is just a joke, a friendly banter:

The meaning of my poem can be characterized by the words "sarcasm" and "irony". From the very beginning, there is a forcing of "accusations" against atheists, they go like an avalanche, bringing to the point of absurdity the very idea that this can be true.
