Prisoner who alleged torture received three years on charges of false denunciation

The Omutninsky District Court of the Kirov Region sentenced convict Eduard Gorbunov to three years in prison, who had previously alleged torture in IK-6. He was found guilty of violating Part 2 of Art. 306 of the Criminal Code (knowingly false denunciation). This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service.

According to the Federal Penitentiary Service, Gorbunov deliberately "discredited the reputation of the institution's employees and the activities of the penitentiary system." The message is accompanied by the lead “the convict himself extended his sentence.”

• In February 2017, Gorbunov's relatives distributed his video message about torture in IK-6. According to the prisoner, the colony staff beat him, buried him in the snow, raped him with various objects, and dressed him in lingerie.
• In April, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Gorbunov for deliberately false denunciation.
• In September, the Kirov Regional Court upheld the sentence of Aleksey Galkin, who was sentenced to two years of strict regime for falsely denouncing an employee of colony IK-20.
