The deputy head of the Internal Troops Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received five years for fraud in the construction of apartments

The Moscow Garrison Military Court sentenced the former deputy head of the Department of Cantonment and Construction of the Logistics of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergei Sudarkin, to five years in prison for fraud on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code). “Judge Valery Gudzenko noted that he took into account the officer’s previous impeccable service, the presence of two minor children as his dependents, as well as the fact that the defendant is a combat veteran and holder of a state award,” the lawyer added. The defendant was also given a fine of 500 thousand rubles.

The agency notes that initially Sudarkin was accused under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale), but then the qualifications were changed.

At the beginning of the year, Kommersant wrote in detail about the case initiated at the request of the general director of the construction company Famer-Development, Yuri Ermantraut. Sudarkin and Ehrmantraut in 2012–2013, when the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had not yet been transformed into the National Guard, negotiated the construction of housing for former employees in Bryansk.

Sudarkin allegedly received 7 million rubles, promising to facilitate the conclusion of a government contract for construction with Ehrmantraut’s company.

The newspaper noted that the entrepreneur wrote a statement against Sudarkin four years after the transfer of money, and in 2015, Famer-Development began the bankruptcy process. The microdistrict for former employees was never built, the National Guard is trying to recover 292 million rubles from the company.
