Sechin promised to come to Ulyukaev’s trial

The head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, promised to come to the court hearing in the case of ex-Minister of Economic Development Alexey Ulyukaev, reports . Rambler News Service

“I will strive to fully comply with the requirements of Russian legislation, but at this stage my main task is to fulfill my functional tasks as the president of Rosneft. As soon as we can agree on all the necessary schedules, I will certainly comply with all the necessary conditions,” he said.

Sechin considered that he had already “reflected his position regarding the criminal prosecution of Ulyukaev in written testimony and in public speeches.”

The head of Rosneft failed to appear at court hearings twice in November, although he was sent subpoenas. Company representative Mikhail Leontyev explained this by saying that his boss was on a planned business trip. Today it became known that a third summons has already been sent to him.

Sechin is a witness in the Ulyukaev case. From the disclosed materials of the case it follows that the head of Rosneft invited the minister to his office. During the meeting, he gave him a gift set with wine and sausage, also $2 million, investigators believe.

The prosecution claims that Ulyukaev extorted money for a positive opinion on Rosneft’s participation in the privatization of Bashneft. The minister himself denies this, and regards receiving the money as a provocation.
