The son of the governor of the Lipetsk region and deputy prosecutor of the Kursk region received a suspended sentence for an accident in which a woman died

In the Kursk region, the Cheremisinovsky district court sentenced to three years probation the deputy regional prosecutor and son of the governor of the Lipetsk region, Roman Korolev, who in 2015 killed Cheremisinovo resident Alla Alpeeva, writes , citing the court’s press service. Kommersant

Korolev was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a car, resulting in the death of a person through negligence). In addition, the defendant was deprived of his driver's license for two years.

Kommersant writes that during the trial, the former deputy prosecutor repented, but at the same time insisted that he hit Alpeeva not on the road, but on the side of the road. The Investigative Committee claims that Korolev did not admit his guilt, but “it is confirmed by the totality of the collected evidence.”

The investigation and the court established that on September 26, 2015, Korolev, driving a personal Volkswagen Touareg car at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in the village of Cheremisinovo, hit Alpeeva. The woman died on the spot from her injuries.

The Investigative Committee emphasizes that there was resistance to the investigation when it established the circumstances of the incident. So, when the car was parked in a guarded parking lot after an accident, unknown persons damaged the airbag control unit, which contained information about the speed of the car at the time of the accident.

In addition, the investigation found that in total, in the period from 2011 to 2015, Korolev illegally exceeded the speed limit 126 times, and twice on the day of Alpeeva’s death. “We are talking about a significant speeding, in some cases by 80 km/h above the established traffic rules,” the Investigative Committee notes.
