The ECHR communicated complaints from those detained for pickets in support of Khodorovsky and Lebedev

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) accepted for consideration the complaints of Yakov Grigoriev and Kamilla Igamberdiyeva, who were detained and fined in 2010 for holding one-man pickets in support of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev in Kaliningrad. This was reported to OVD-Info in the human rights project "Open Russia".

In 2010, activists took turns holding a one-man picket, holding a banner reading “Freedom to Khodorkovsky and Lebedev! We are for justice." Grigoriev and Igamberdieva were detained and protocols were drawn up against them under part 1 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure for organizing or holding an action). The activists were kept in the department for more than three hours, they were not allowed to call relatives and a lawyer, they were not allowed to go to the toilet and threatened with imprisonment.

Later, Grigoriev and Igamberdieva appealed to the city court, demanding compensation in the amount of 100,000 rubles for the illegal actions of the police officers. The court partially satisfied the demands and awarded compensation in the amount of 11.5 thousand rubles to each. The amount of compensation was appealed, but the amount awarded was never paid. In this regard, the activists filed a complaint with the ECtHR.
