The accused of calling for riots and to terrorism mathematician Dmitry Bogatov can be transferred to the status of a witness after checking a lie detector. This was reported by TASS with reference to a source familiar with the course of the investigation.

"Bogatov in the near future can change the status from the accused to the witness in connection with the results obtained during the (examination on) the polygraph," the agency’s interlocutor said.

Bogatov’s lawyers did not confirm, but did not refute this information either.

The day before, the lawyer Sarkis Darbinyan said that Bogatov was checking the polygraphto confirm his alibi . Polygraphologists Oleg Baryshev and Andrei Molchanov, who used to work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, “confirmed Dmitry Bogatov’s complete non -involvement in the crime completely other people,” the lawyer noted.

In early October, the investigator himself suggested that Bogatov undergo a study on a polygraph. The mathematician insists on the presence of an alibi. During the publications of calls, he was in the gym with his wife, and then he was with her in the store. This is confirmed by records from surveillance cameras.

“It was a fairly long and exhausting procedure that took many hours. At first I thought that I would ask questions that I couldn’t answer“ yes ”or“ no ”to me. But the wording of all questions were discussed until I agreed that they can be answered unambiguously,” the lawyer quoted Bogatov’s story.

On November 14, another mathematician lawyer Alexei Teptsov sent a petition to the investigator to introduce the results of the testing on the polygraph. So far, the decision on this appeal has not been made.

The 25-year-old Bogatov is charged with calls to participate in protests on April 2. According to the plot of the case, on March 29, a mathematician from an account, led by Ayrat Bashirov, published on VKontakte the following message: "April 2 on Red Square. On a dick of approval. Rags, bottles, gasoline, turpentine, foam, acetone - if possible." It is claimed that the record was made from the IP address of the accused's apartment.

Bogatov himself insists that at the time of the publication he was not at home, he was not at home. His lawyers indicated that publications on behalf of Ayrat Bashirov were distributed from several IP addresses and only one of them corresponds to the apartment of the accused. In addition, the defense noted, this IP address belonged to the output node of the Tor network, so any user of an anonymous network that connected to the node could write a message.

At the same time, after the detention of Bogatov, a user who has access to the Ayrat Bashirov account took responsibility for publishing the mathematics of posts. The user said that he lives in the United States, he was not a sign of Bogatov, but he can document that he was not involved in publications.

On the night of April 6, Bogatov was detained. Mathematics was charged with part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code (calls to riots), which provides for up to two years of the colony. However, on April 7, the judge of the Presnensky district court of Moscow Evgeny Naydenov refused the arrest of the detainee. He indicated that according to Part 1 of Article 108 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (detention), the arrest of suspects in cases of crimes of small gravity - that is, those for which the Criminal Code provides for no more than three years - is not allowed.

Despite this decision, the detainee was not released. Instead, Bogatov’s case was retrained by submitting mathematics to the charge under Part 1 of Article 30 - Part 1 of Article 212 (preparation for the organization of riots) and part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public calls for terrorism via the Internet). The maximum punishment on the first prosecution is seven and a half years of the colony, the second - seven years. On April 10, the same judge Naydenov sent Bogatov to a pre -trial detention center .

The developers of Tor , as well as the Linux Debian operating systems, in support of Bogatov, in the creation of which the mathematician took part in. In May, a statement in defense of Bogatov made an American defector Edward Snowden .

In addition, the initiative group of Moscow State University, whose graduate is Bogatov, organized the collection of signatures in the name of Vladimir Putin and the rector of the university Viktor Sadovnichy with a request to intervene in the investigation of the case and attract competent specialists to him. The signatures under the document were set by 1544 teachers, graduate student and university student. On July 17, the appeal was transferred to the Chancellery of Sadovnichy, and the next day - to the presidential administration .

On July 24, Bogatov was transferred under house arrest . On October 27, the Presnensky court of Moscow extended Bogatov until January 31, 2018, the term of preventive measure. At the same time, the investigation granted Bogatov’s petition to visit the doctors he needed.
