Brothers Malcolm and Angus Young founded AC/DC in 1973. The group became one of the most famous hard rock bands in history; The 1980 album Back in Black is considered one of the best-selling records in history.
In 2014, Malcolm Young, who was diagnosed with dementia, left the group. AC/DC released the album Rock or Bust (the first to be recorded without the elder Young) and planned a tour. Drummer Phil Rudd was unable to go because he was suspected of making a death threat. In 2016, longtime vocalist Brian Johnson left the band due to hearing loss and was replaced by Axl Rose from Guns N'Roses. Finally, that same year, bassist Cliff Williams, who had been with AC/DC since 1977, left the band.
As of 2017, of the musicians who played in AC/DC from the early years, only one of the founders of the group, Angus Young, remains in the group.
On October 22, Malcolm and Angus Young's older brother George Young, who worked with AC/DC as a producer early in their career, died.
