The free Democratic Party of Germany (SDPG) has left the negotiations on the creation of a new government coalition. This was announced by the party leader Christian Lindner, reports Deutsche Welle. The formation of a new cabinet of ministers was interrupted.
The Bloc of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union (HDS/CSS), headed by the current Chancellor of Angela Merkel, and the Soyuz-90/Green party also participated in the negotiations. According to the results of consultations, for the first time in the history of Germany, a government coalition of three parties could be formed, which was called "Jamaica" - the colors of the parties correspond to the colors of the flag of this country. Merkel was supposed to be advanced again. She headed the German government for three consecutive terms since 2005.
Lindner explained the exit of his party from negotiations with the “lack of trust” and “innumerable contradictions” between the partners in the future coalition. “It is better not to rule the country than to rule incorrectly,” the politician emphasized.
“We cannot bear responsibility for the spirit that are filled with government consultations,” the SDPG leaders said . “We would have to abandon our basic principles and everything that we have strove for many years. We will not bring our voters, supporting a political course that we do not believe in.”
“He (Lindner. - Ed.) Chose a type of populist agitation instead of state political responsibility,” the representative of the Green Rainhard Buticofer commented on the release of liberals from negotiations. Deputy Secretary General of the CDU Julia Klekner called the actions of the SDPG "well -prepared spontaneity."
Angela Merkel expressed regret about the failure of the negotiations. According to the head of the German government, the CDU/CSS hoped that the negotiation participants were “in one way” and could reach consent.
Negotiations on the creation of a new government lasted about four weeks. Now, if it is never formed, early Bundestag elections can be held in Germany. In the opposition of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, which received the second place in the parliamentary elections, they said that they would not be included in the coalition with the CDU/CSS, even if Merkel refused to lead the new government.
Parliamentary elections in Germany took place on September 25 . The first place was received by the Merkel Bloc with 33 percent of the vote, the second - the Social Democrats, who received 20.5 percent of the votes of voters. In third place was the Law Popopulistic Party of the Alternative for Germany, which first went into the national parliament. The Bundestag also found a free democratic party with 10.7 percent of the vote, the left party, which received 9.2 percent of the vote, and Soyuz-90/Green, which gained 9.2 percent.
