A 32-year-old pregnant woman from the Moscow region was detained while giving her money, which, according to the Investigative Committee, was an advance payment for the unborn child. A case was opened under the article on trafficking in minors.
The police began to suspect the woman of intending to sell her own unborn child when she responded to an offer on social networks.
The pregnant woman contacted the buyers by phone and told them that she wanted to sell the child due to her difficult financial situation. She set the price at 300 thousand rubles, and asked for 100 thousand as an advance payment.
At the moment of transferring this amount, the woman was detained.
When questioned by police, the 32-year-old pregnant woman denied the accusations. The woman admitted that she really had a lot of debts, but she did not want to sell the child. Allegedly, after paying the debts, she intended to return 100 thousand rubles to the buyer, explaining that she had changed her mind.
Now the materials of the criminal case under the article “Human trafficking committed against a minor” have been transferred to the investigative department of the Moscow region. The circumstances of the incident are being established.
On November 18, the NTV channel aired a program about the “black market” of newborns in Russia. Journalists Vyacheslav Nemyshev and Yulia Shatilova played the role of spouses who want to become parents, but due to circumstances cannot do this in a natural way.
They met with several women who were ready to sell their future children in different regions of Russia. One of the meetings took place near the perinatal center in Volsk, Saratov region - a pregnant girl in a bathrobe came out to the journalists to discuss the deal.
On November 20, the chief physician of the Volsky Perinatal Center, Larisa Sokolovskaya, denied to Region 64 the information that clients of the medical institution were selling their children.
“The administration of the institution does not have information about cases in which a pregnant woman or woman in labor offered her child to anyone for sale,” Sokolovskaya said.
The Investigative Committee reminds that in Russia there is criminal liability for human trafficking, and for such a particularly serious crime committed against children, a person can be sentenced to imprisonment for up to 15 years.
