Rosatom intends to become an operator of the NSR - Trinity option - science

Specialists of the State Corporation "Rosatom" prepared a bill that allows it to take on the functions of supervision and control of shipping at the NSR. The essence of the bill

If the bill developed by Rosatom is approved, the state corporation will receive the following powers:

• The right to make a decision on the beginning of the functioning of new ports on the Northern Sea Route.
• The approval of the rules for lease of federal property in the territory of sea ports, falling under the jurisdiction of the company.
• Development of rules for the provision of services in ports.
• The approval of the size of port fees for ships, which are included in the ports on the NSR.
• Organization of the passage of courts in the water area of ​​the Northern Sea Route.
• Issuance of permits for the passage of ships.
• Assistance in conducting search and rescue activities.
• Development and distribution of recommendations regarding the use of icebreakers and laying routes of ships.
• Coordination of the installation sites of navigation equipment.
• Monitoring of navigation, ice, hydrometeorological environment.

According to representatives of the state corporation, after the approval of the bill, the situation on the Northern Sea Route should significantly improve. This applies to the safety of courts, the quality of service in ports, the development of trade routes, etc. Thus, Rosatom seeks to turn the SMP into a busy Arctic trading highway. According to preliminary data, the bill should be adopted in January 2018.

Previously, Rosatom has already noted the great importance of Severmorput in the development of international trade relations. Thanks to this direction, you can significantly revive trade not only with China, but also with other countries of Asia.

More importantly, the condition for this is the use of a sufficient number of icebreakers. We remind you that now Rosatom takes part in the creation of new icebreakers like LK-60. Their main purpose is the maintenance of the Severomorput. In 2019, the Arctic icebreaker should be commissioned. And in November 2020, it is planned to commission the Siberia icebreaker.

Severmorpot is approximately twice as shorter than other sea routes between Europe and the Far East. Navigation lasts only 2-4 months. But thanks to the icebreakers, its duration can be significantly increased.
