Donald Trump announced the inclusion of North Korea in the list of countries that sponsor terrorism, reports Reuters. At the same time, the US President emphasized that this had to be done "a long time ago."

According to the president, the US Ministry of Justice will announce additional measures against the DPRK on Tuesday.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson noted that the practical effect of new American sanctions can be limited, since serious restrictive measures have already been introduced in relation to the DPRK. At the same time, he expressed the hope that the United States "would close several loopholes with them."

“We will continue to put pressure on the DPRK, seeking to join other countries to this work and take measures by them,” the head of the State Department said. According to Tillerson, the United States "still hoped for diplomacy" in resolving the situation on the Korean peninsula.

Now in the American list of sponsors of terrorism there are Syria, included in it in 1979, Iran (since 1984) and Sudan (since 1993). The DPRK has also been on the list since 1988, but in October 2008 the US State Department announced the exclusion of a list of a list, as it was possible to come to an agreement on the inspections of North Korean nuclear facilities.
