The President of the Czech Republic called on the European Union to cancel sanctions against Russia

Czech President Milos Zeman called on the European Union to cancel sanctions against Russia. At a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, he also spoke out against retaliatory restrictions on the part of Moscow. Zeman noted that if the sanctions are not canceled, Russia will remain "without excellent cheeses and yogurts."

Earlier on November 21, Vladimir Putin met with Syria President Bashar Assad. At negotiations with Zeman, the Russian President said that government troops in Syria are controlled by more than 98 percent of the country, AFP reports.

The President of the Czech Republic is known for the statements in support of the policy of Russia and Vladimir Putin, which caused concern about the Czech government and Western allies. Previously, Zeman called the annexation of Moscow Crimea "by the failed fact" and expressed the opinion that Russia should pay Ukraine compensation with money, oil or gas.

The European Union and the United States imposed economic sanctions against Russia for the annexation of Crimea and intervention in the conflict in eastern Ukraine. In response, Moscow introduced restrictions on food supply from Western countries. Over the past two years , nearly 17 thousand tons of products have been destroyed in Russia, which tried to bring into the country bypassing the embargo.
