Dmitry Hvorostovsky was born on October 16, 1962 in Krasnoyarsk. His father, Alexander Stepanovich, was a chemical engineer, mother, Lyudmila Petrovna, a gynecologist. In 1972-1977, Hvorostovsky was engaged in the city music school No. 4, studied Solfezhio and the game on the piano.

In 1995, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia. Its world premiere took place in May 1996 in London Vigmore Hall.

On May 9, 2015, at VDNH in Moscow, he gave a concert “Military Years Songs” in honor of the 70th anniversary of Victory. His performances dedicated to the holiday also took place in Tyumen, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk and a number of other cities. And on June 24, 2015, it was officially announced that Hvorostovsky was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

However, he did not stop his performances. Already in the process of treatment, in September 2015, Hvorostovsky performed with Anna Netrebko at the Metropolitan Opera, in October-with the Latvian singer Elina Gaeling in the State Kremlin Palace.

At the end of 2016, Hvorostovsky stopped performing in the opera due to complications caused by the disease, but for some time he still participated in concerts. So, in May 2017, he participated in the Gala concert on Palace Square on the day of the city of St. Petersburg, and in June 2017 he took part in the Austrian festival of Grafenegg, holding a concert called Dmitry and his friends.

He himself said that some time before he found out about his illness, had already lost his taste for life, apathy appeared. The singer was awarded the orders of Alexander Nevsky (2015) and “For Merit to the Fatherland” of the IV degree (2017). He was a laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after M.I.
