
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that, following a meeting with the leaders of Turkey and Iran, it was decided to increase efforts to destroy extremist groups, writes Interfax .
In a joint statement based on the results of the meeting, the President of Russia, Turkey and Iran noted that not a single political initiative, including de -escalation zones, should undermine the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria.
The heads of the three guarantors' powers also agreed to continue work in the Astana format to strengthen the world in Syria.
“They stated with satisfaction significant successes of joint fighting terrorism, confirmed the readiness to increase the interaction for the final destruction of the Islamic State, Jabhat-en-nusra (IG, both organizations are prohibited in the Russian Federation) and other extremist groups,” said Vladimir Putin.
The presidents of the three countries noted that, if necessary, they are ready to conduct another summit to resolve the situation in Syria.
