Dmitry Hvorostovsky was born in 1962 in Krasnoyarsk, graduated from the Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical School named after Gorky and the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Arts. He sang in Kovent-Garden, the Bavarian State Opera, the Berlin State Opera, La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, Metro-Opera, the Mariinsky Theater. Hvorostovsky was an honored artist of the RSFSR and People's Artist of Russia, the gentleman of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” of the IV degree. In honor of the singer they named an asteroid opened by the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in 1983.
