“After two and a half years of the fight against brain cancer, he died this morning on November 22, surrounded by a family near his house in London. Let the power of his voice and spirit will forever stay with us,” the singer’s family said.
Hvorostovsky was born and raised in Krasnoyarsk. He graduated from the local Institute of Arts. From 1985 to 1990 he was a soloist of the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theater. In June 2015, Hvorostovsky announced that he was planning to undergo treatment in the oncological clinic in London. At this time, the singer took a break in his concert activity.
