Are you satisfied with those where you are?

It seems to me that yes, but instinctively I want to get somewhere further-to another place. For example, I have a certain problem with planning. I was horrified by the question that I was asked in interviews - about where I see myself in five years. I don’t see myself in a week. It’s hard for me to decide on the place that I want to get into, but I understand what effort I need to make.

And what is this effort?

Yes, I actually have no idea what I'm talking about. I just like to do what I do, in the framework of this I see an effort - work more with different musicians, try interesting tools. For the last album, for example, I recorded an alt-saxophone. Saxophonist's name is Masha Artomenko. Or the soundtracks, for example. It is very interesting to write soundtracks. Well, new albums, of course.

Yes, you have tangible intervals between albums.

It happened. The first album in 2014. Then the tours began, performances, there were no up to music, then everyone was tired-and parting with people from the group began, with managers, this took a wildly time, and I needed to somehow rethink, rethink. In general, the result of my experiences was a new album. This happens with many bright things, they are born from some such experiences.

What you do in music, do you think relevant? Now, it seems, the time has come for scum from music. Without negative connotations, but take at least the rapper Face.

Yes, I agree, now is the time of fierce youth. "Sleeping", "killers", IC3PEAK, the same Husky, Aigel.

But against the backdrop of all this, there is no escapism in your approach to music?

Returning to those experiences that I said about: the music was then the only way to stay in my mind. There is no anger in me, but there is an understanding that in general the world is strange to divide into black and white. That there is some wide gray zone, and no matter what you do, in any case, everything will happen to you-and terrible and good. There is no one to be angry with.

Well, how not to anyone: on a judge who puts your husband, as in the case of Aigel, on Russian hton.

I am not saying that others have nothing to be angry. It's just that I don’t have this anger. And if it appears, I just hit the wall with my fist - that's all. Anger passes.

Do you have no attempts to rethink yourself in accordance with the current trends? As a musician, as a woman-singer?

The thing is that you wake up with another person every day. And I have little relation to the Nadia that I started to engage in music at all, and I do not fully understand what moved it. But in the last album, I managed to find some point of contact of my desires and opportunities. It seems to me that I finally understood myself and was able to make some whole statement. Calm satisfaction with their work is a pleasant sensation. And it seems, yes, this is now in the trend.

And what is the statement about?

In general terms, this is such a cut of my life philosophy. What I talked about is about the gray zone, when you decide to accept circumstances, to accept the inevitability.

That is, just sit and look at the sea? A good plan, but serious, the world often has other plans for you.

I'm not just lowering my hands when something happens to me. Although, perhaps, on this occasion, I should turn to a psychologist if you are hinting at it.

How are you so fenced? You just don't read the news?

It's hard for me not to read the news when I open the Facebook tape. But, for example, I refused to watch news on different channels in YouTube. It seems to me that I have some kind of protective mechanism, it is not difficult for me to understand when I reach the limit and say “stop”.

Listening to all this, I do not understand how you could even quarrel with any musicians.

Well, this was the very moment when I realized that it was time to stop all this.

For some reason, I imagine another image when a person leaves an environment that has not broken it: it should be some kind of clip where Beyoncé goes to powerful music, and a car explodes behind her.

Then under the i Will Survive. Here each line speaks in you, in this song there is such a life energy! She, perhaps, is the first one of her kind, not about how to collect and feature everything, but about how to just take and survive without all this. After all, it is considered how - that the girl should be softer, wiser, understand, forgive. But why should she? And to whom?

Well, by the way, about a woman who "must." There is a singer Loboda, who in this sense is an absolute shift: it looks like a woman who can be approached with a stereotype about “should”, but is actually strong and independent.

I’m not in the material simply, but if we talk about the stage, then in the last, or rather, the first single, Olga Buzova, “few halves,” who made, if I am not mistaken, Roma Bestseller, who made the first album Dorn, just about the current trends. It seems like this is a rethinking of a woman’s position, a kind of I Will Survive. It seems that only Alla Borisovna Pugacheva could afford this for herself, and then in the 1980s. Although frankly, it is already difficult to separate feminism from marketing feminism. Everyone understood that this was sold, so let's show the real blood in the advertisement of gaskets, now we’ll wrap two hundred million views.

But you have no feeling that something is wrong with all this?

The idea is this: in order to sell something, you need to simplify this to the size of the slogan. Alas, or fortunately, it is difficult to understand, but we are now in the process, the consequences of which are not very aware of. Of course, any radicalism and simplification, attempts to sell you slogans often lead to ... although no, I understand that I’m afraid to give an example, because any of the said phrase in which there will be a hint of “trigger” - you can get it tightly now. Simplification leads to the fact that the idea comes to people (oh, I enter the unsteady soil), which immediately radicalize it, and then write on instagrams, how and what offended them.

For example?

There is such a Ukrainian artist Masha Reva, after whom I follow with interest. She made sweatshirts with botanical prints, and now she works with world brands, and in general a star. In one of the recent works, she began to draw in public and post pictures on Instagram. Once I like her photo, which depicts a girl in a dark room in voluminous black clothes. Her face is also painted black, and a red circle is drawn around her lips. And then I noticed that under the photo - hundreds of comments, and they are all outraged. It turned out that she was accused of racism and ridicule of blacks with this picture. I specifically walked on the profiles of commentators - completely white young girls. I was in shock, the artist later wrote that actually herself against racism, she had nothing in mind. Here is one of the examples of how the slogans, falling on the fertile ground, turn into an instrument of suppression and manipulation. The funny thing is that after two days everyone forgot about it. Surely moved somewhere else.

Does this happen to you? Has anyone clung to your statements?

I am not too publicly so that I could not express something. But, again, in Russia you can still talk about many things. When the actress Tolkalina talked with Medusa about Harrasment and Weinstein, she did not suspect that the world around this closed community had changed.

There is no feeling that the space for utterance has become smaller for both sides?

Well, yes, you can’t say about Harrasment, because people from the “Party of Men” and fighters for male rights or some Roskomnadzor will come. In such a situation, you have to voice your thoughts as correctly as possible. But in general it is interesting - to live in a world where some are canceled, but they did not agree on others.

We are now conducting a study of slavery in Samizdat. We believe that it can have a variety of forms: someone slave to social networks, someone at a brick factory. What can you call yourself a slave?

I am a slave of peace of mind. I am always trying to protect myself from everything. In many ways I deny myself, since my protective mechanisms are constantly on guard. I am a slave to these protective mechanisms.

You must understand that one way or another, I still encounter reality, we are a lot of Turim, we have a wheel in Russia. She has a very strong hug. After the tour, I can sit at home for weeks and do not want to see anyone. Sometimes it’s straight to look at Russia. I don’t understand how you did it while working as a reporter.

That is, Russia cannot inspire you?

Well, why? When I try to dig the Russia that we are talking about, they tell me that I am writing too sad songs. Not that I made songs on request. But it is obvious this: people most like to move away from reality especially here. I even see this in the subway. Maybe you observed how different musicians play in the subway, and if something lyrical and slow sounds, then everyone goes by, and if something with drums and other tambourines, then people stop, stiffen, smile-it tear them out of reality. Perhaps I strive for something like that-to create another space where you can be free and alone with harmony, I would call it a kind of universal experience. The place in which you forget that you are you.
