"Rosbalt": former plenipotentiary representative of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Tsitsulaev was detained while crossing the border with Ukraine

In the Bryansk region, while crossing the border with Ukraine, Russian security forces detained the former plenipotentiary representative of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov in Ukraine, Ramzan Tsitsulaev, who is wanted on charges of fraud, Rosbalt reports , citing a source in law enforcement agencies.

According to the agency’s interlocutor, Tsitsulaev had already been transported to Moscow and placed in the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center. The former plenipotentiary representative of the President of Chechnya was charged with fraud (Article 159 of the Criminal Code) and resisting government officials (Article 318 of the Criminal Code). According to the source, Tsitsulaev will soon be charged with kidnapping (Article 126 of the Criminal Code) and extortion (Article 163 of the Criminal Code).

According to investigators, Tsitsulaev received more than 50 thousand euros from the wife of arrested businessman Andrei Novikov. For this amount, he promised to organize the release of the entrepreneur.

In November 2014, criminal investigation operatives tried to detain Tsitsulaev at the Moscow Golden Ring Hotel, where Novikov’s wife was supposed to bring a bundle of money. During the arrest, the operatives were stopped by the official's security - the security forces were thrown to the floor and severely beaten. At this time, Tsitsulaev disappeared through the back door. As a result, the former plenipotentiary representative of the President of Chechnya was put on the federal wanted list.
