
The mayor of Vologda became Sergey Voropanov, the press service of the city administration said on November 23. Deputies of the City Duma supported him unanimously.
“Today is a very important day in the history of the city of Vologda, the capital of our region. A new mayor took office, who will bring new strokes, ideas, innovation, ”said the Vologda governor Oleg Kuvshinov.
Voropanov acted as the mayor after the departure of Andrei Travnikov, whom Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed the acting governor of the Novosibirsk region. Unlike his predecessor, Voropanov is not formally connected with Severstal Alexei Mordashov. The new head of the city worked in construction and communal enterprises, was a deputy of the City Duma and Legislative Assembly.
