The head of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic, Igor Plotnitsky, has resigned for health reasons, the Luhansk Information Center reports, citing LPR State Security Minister Leonid Pasechnik.
“Numerous combat wounds, the consequences of shell shock,” the message says.
Pasechnik says that, according to the decision of Plotnitsky, he will act as head of the LPR "until the upcoming elections." Plotnitsky himself was appointed "authorized from the Luhansk People's Republic for the implementation of the Minsk agreements."
Whether the removed Plotnitsky (and who refused to resign) LPR Interior Minister Igor Kornet will remain in office has not yet been reported.
