The case of "god Kuzi" goes to court

The Moscow prosecutor's office approved the indictment in the case of Andrei Popov ("God Kuzi"). This was reported on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office without indicating the name of the accused. The case goes to the Presnensky district court of the capital.

In addition to Popov in the case of five more defendants; Their names in the message are also not disclosed - it is only indicated that these are residents of the Moscow Region aged 26 to 65 years. The names of the two accused were previously reported by the police. We are talking about the ex-adviser of the CEO of the Center for International Trade of Moscow Nadezhda Rozanova and the pensioner Galina Markevich.

All six are charged with part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud on an especially large scale), which provides for up to 10 years of the colony. Popov also incriminated part 1 of Article 239 of the Code (creation of a religious association, which encroaches on the identity and rights of citizens, and their leadership; up to four years), and other defendants - part 3 of the same article (participation in the activities of such an association; up to two years).

According to the plot of the case, the participants of the sect founded by Popov in 2007 in Moscow fraudulently received more than 7 million rubles from citizens - supposedly to build a church, the acquisition of cultural objects, religious literature, etc.

Last year it was reported that 10 people were recognized as victims in the case .

Popov, Rozanova and Markevich were detained on September 10, 2015. Then it was argued that during the searches in the case in seven Moscow apartments, the security forces found about 43 million rubles and more than 100 thousand dollars, as well as "specific literature and exotic animals contained in improper conditions." It was also announced the seizure of records confirming that the leadership of the sect fraudulently took possession of the money of citizens.

September 11, 2015 Popov was arrested . Rozanov and Markevich were also sent to a pre -trial detention center. Another part of the defendants, the current publication of the Prosecutor General’s Office said, took the unsuccessful subscriptions.

It was reported that Popov categorically denies sane guilt.

In September last year, during the next hearings on the extension of the arrest of Rozanova, the defense of the accused introduced the gratitude issued to her for "charitable activities" in the DPR and the LPR .

The case was in the production of the capital's head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The end of the investigation was announced back in September 2016. For what reason the indictment was approved more than a year later, the Prosecutor General did not specify.

The supervisory department also says that the investigation continues in relation to a number of citizens who are charged with involvement in the activities of the sect.

Popov is 40 years old, he is a disabled person of the II vision group. As stated in the Moscow Patriarchate , Popov had previously been operating under the name of Bishop Roman for a long time, and then proclaimed himself "God Kusey." The Russian Orthodox Church claimed that the main income of the sect brings participation in Orthodox exhibitions - posing as representatives of a little -known church or monastery, its adherents offer visitors to order various prayers and trees.

Popov’s personality in 2008-2009 was actively discussed at the Deacon forum Andrei Kuraev. The forum participants reported that many of them fell on the lectures of the "Lord of the novel" precisely from the Orthodox exhibitions.

In 2013, the Patriarchate in its statement expressed concern with the active participation of members of the god Kuzi sect in such exhibitions.
