The final decision on the belonging of the "Yekaterinburg remains" to members of the royal family cannot be made through scientific examination. This was stated by Patriarch Kirill at a scientific conference passing in Moscow, dedicated to the latest results of examinations of the so -called royal remains, Interfax reports .

"We are not just about the remains of ordinary people - we are talking about gaining holy relics," the Patriarch said at the conference. According to the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, the theme of holiness of the relics does not apply to science, but to such (from the word “Taintic” - Ed.) Part of the life of people, therefore, only the Bishop Cathedral can decide the identity of the “Yekaterinburg remains”.

Meanwhile, the investigation plans to appoint a psychological and historical examination in order to find out if the execution of the royal family was a ritual murder. This was stated by the senior investigator for particularly important cases of the Investigative Committee of Marina Molodtsova, RIA Novosti reports .

"The investigation is planned to be the appointment of a psychological and historical forensic examination to resolve the issue related, inter alia, with the possible ritual nature of the murder of a royal family," Molodtsova said. According to her, an expert council is being formed for this, which will include researchers of the Academy of Sciences, Moscow and St. Petersburg universities, historians, archivists and priests of the Russian Orthodox Church. The conduct of this study will become possible after receiving the conclusion of the historical and archival examination, which experts are currently working on, Molodtsova noted.

On November 11, 2014, the TFR reported that the genetic analysis confirmed the authenticity of the remains of Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Fedorovna. The coincidence of DNA sections from samples taken from the jaw and the vertebra of the emperor in September, with the samples received earlier in the study of the shirt of Nicholas II with traces of his blood, was proved. In the sample from a fragment of the lower jaw of the skeleton of the Empress, areas of mitochondrial DNA were revealed, coinciding with the options for the descendants of the English Queen Victoria on the maternal line. The empress was the granddaughter of the Queen.

On November 27, 2015, in the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg, experts opened the sarcophagus of the Russian emperor Alexander III and took samples of his remains for a genetic study, which should prove the authenticity of the remains of Nicholas II and his children.

In October last year, Patriarch Kirill said that the examination of the remains of the children of Emperor Nicholas II Alexei and Maria was completing . “We agreed with the country's leadership that all the examinations need to be reused, because, from our point of view, what happened in the 90s, happened with violations. And in order for the Church to accept the results of the examination, the examination itself should not be impeccable, there should be no suspicion of anyone.
