The International Olympic Committee has canceled the results of five Russian athletes who participated in the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014, according to the IOC website.
“Skeletonist Sergey Chudinov, bobsledders – gold medalists of the 2014 Olympics Alexei Negodailo and Dmitry Trunenkov, silver medalists biathletes Yana Romanova and Olga Vilukhina are disqualified for life from the Olympic Games, their results have been canceled,” the committee’s website says.
Thus, Russia left the top three in the medal count of the Sochi Olympics and dropped to sixth place, giving way to Norway, Canada, the USA, the Netherlands and Germany.
Earlier, Russia lost first place in the team standings of the Olympics in Sochi. The IOC disqualified Russian bobsledder Alexander Zubkov, bobsledder Olga Stulneva and speed skaters Olga Fatkulina and Alexander Rumyantsev.
The IOC also banned four Russian skeletonists and two skiers from the Olympics for life.
