1917 Arrest of the leaders of the cadet party

One hundred years ago, on November 28, 1917, the Council of People's Commissars issued a decree outlawing the Cadets party. It read: "Members of the leading institutions of the Cadet Party, as the party of enemies of the people, are subject to arrest and trial by revolutionary tribunals. The local Soviets are under the obligation of special supervision of the Cadet Party in view of its connection with the Kornilov-Kaledino civil war against the revolution."

On the same day, the deputies of the Constituent Assembly from the Cadets, Prince Pavel Dolgorukov and Fyodor Kokoshkin, and former ministers of the Provisional Government Vasily Stepanov and Andrei Shingarev were arrested.
