The mother of a disabled miner, Vera Shikhova, was fined due to single pickets

On November 28, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow imposed two fines of 10,000 rubles each on the mother of a disabled miner, Vera Shikhova, for holding solo pickets outside the presidential administration. She reported this to OVD-Info.

Judge Olga Zatomskaya found her guilty, despite contradictions in the testimony of the police officers who detained Shikhova. At the meeting, one of them stated that during a one-man picket on September 25, a woman and an unknown man held the same banner together. Another said that Shikhova and the same person were holding two different banners. Shikhova herself claims that at that moment a stranger was running around her, who had a folded piece of paper in his hands.

On that day, she was detained and a protocol was drawn up under Part 5 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the rules for participation in a mass event).

On September 21, Shikhova held a similar action in protest against the lack of social guarantees for her son, who was injured while working in a mine. Vera Shikhova has been traveling to Moscow for five years and holding solo pickets demanding that her son Alexander be given a disability group and social benefits. The son of Vera Shikhova in 2010 was seriously injured at the Ziminka mine in the city of Prokopyevsk, Kemerovo Region, but the company's management refuses to admit that Alexander was injured at work.
