The Moscow prosecutor's office declared illegal the refusal of the administration of Sokolniki Park to agree on an environmental rally on October 21. This was reported on the website of the Presidential Human Rights Council.
Environmentalists planned to hold a rally against environmental pollution, violation of environmental laws, and for the observance of the "environmental" rights of citizens. On October 13, the park administration responded positively to the application for holding the event, but on October 16, the applicants received a response with a refusal. The reasons why the decision changed were not reported.
The Green Theater site in Sokolniki is the city's Hyde Park, and for holding public events there, it is not necessary to coordinate them with the authorities if the number of participants does not exceed 1,500 people. Environmentalists applied for 500 participants.
The prosecutor's office recognized the park administration's decision as illegal and issued a motion to eliminate violations "in connection with the unlawful refusal of the Moscow City Administration of Culture and Leisure Sokolniki to hold the event."
