Two Crimean Tatar activists detained in Simferopol were transferred to a detention center in Saki

Crimean Tatar activists Bekir Degermendzhi and Asan Chapukh were transferred from Simferopol to a temporary detention facility in Saki. This was written on the Facebook of "Crimean Solidarity".

November 23 FSB officers detained a group of Crimean Tatar activists. Among them were the leader of the Yalta Mejlis Asan Chapukh, the father of Bekir Degermendzhi, the person involved in the criminal case of the riots near the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea in February 2014, the chairman of the Mejlis of the village of Grushevka (Sudaksky district) Kazim Ametov and Kurtseit Abdullayeva.

On the same day they were placed in a temporary detention facility, and the next day they were arrested until January 2018. The men were accused of extorting money on an especially large scale from a Turkish citizen. After that, a criminal case was initiated for “Extortion committed by a group of persons” (Part 2 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code). In addition, the homes of several local activists were searched.
