Klimenko resigned as director of the Internet Development Institute

Advisor to the President of Russia on the development of the Internet German Klimenko resigned as director of the Internet Development Institute and lost his position as chairman of the board of this organization. This was reported on the website of the educational institution.

Leonid Levin, the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, became the chairman of the institute's council, and Sergey Petrov, the former chairman of the board of the Media Communications Union, became the director.

According to Gazeta.ru , the authorities are planning to change the concept of the institute's work. The main task will be to train officials to work on the Internet.

The Internet Development Institute appeared in 2015 with the assistance of Vyacheslav Volodin, who then served as deputy head of the presidential administration.

Herman Klymenko has repeatedly said that the state should tighten the regulation of the worldwide network. So, in January, he said that in Russia it is necessary to limit the Internet, as in China. However, later he explained : it was not about this, but about the fact that "if the Internet is limited, then it is easier to ensure security."
