The Ministry of Justice of Russia included nine foreign media working in the country in the list of foreign agents. Among them is the Voice of America and Radio Liberty. This media may prohibit the entrance to the Federation Council, a source in the apparatus of the upper house of the Russian parliament told the RBC information agency. However, they will not be banned to work in Russia.

Political scientists disagree on the importance of the inclusion of a number of media outlets that are in Russia, in the list of foreign agents. According to Pavel Salin, director of the Center for Political Science of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, this measure is not correlated with the recognition of Russian media in -aggressions in the United States (Russian RT and Sputnik have received this status) and is much more rigid than the similar measure of the Americans. The expert believes that obtaining such a status in Russia will lead to the actual cessation of the work of these Western media, since both the professional and economic side of activity will be complicated for them.

“For Russian society, all this will be almost unnoticed, and for the American media - no. They are already in a difficult situation, and after that they will actually be forced to curtail their work-because experts will stop communicating with them, and it will become difficult to conduct financial and economic activities (they will not formally limit it, but the counterparties will begin to reinsure, and it will be almost impossible to conduct this activity). I think that the activities of foreign media that will fall into the list of foreign agents will be almost paralyzed, ”Polit.ru explained Pavel Salin.

At the same time, political consultant Abbas Galyamov adheres to the point of view that such a status may even be useful for the media. “In the context of a decrease in the popularity of propaganda channels of the regime and the growth of protest moods, marking as a foreign agent will become not so much a problem for the media as advertising. All thinking people will read them - about the same as it was with the "enemy voices" at the sunset of the USSR. After a few years, the authorities will catch up and cancel this marking, ”he said “ Polit.ru ”.

“The media recognized by foreign agencies can continue to make publications - they will not be closed. They will simply not be allowed into the State Duma or the Federation Council, as I understand it. But they will be able to continue to work. It's just that I, for a long time, deal with France, come across funny situations: the publication of something can be prohibited. You can’t see some magazines, some articles, everything is somehow complicated-you begin to remember how you worked in the 1970s, sat in a special guard. Or, let's say, they sent a book from France to me, and it did not reach, because it was written that it was political-and there were problems immediately, the book went somewhere ...

In general, now some passion is manifested to restore what was-since everything was developed, familiar, everything is closed. And when it is possible to give a certain answer to the actions of the West, adequate or inadequate, then this technique is immediately used - they try to close the country. After all, all our newspapers, magazines, radio and television are not transmitted by everything that they want: here you come to television - and you know what you will hear on the first channel, on the second, on the fourth and so on. You know that everything will already be filtered and clearly. What if these very foreign publications will say any muck for no reason? God forbid, about Putin. Or about the system. Or about some individual important people. No, it’s better to close!

Just as they try to close information about what important people own. To find out what they own is becoming more difficult and more complicated. Moreover, a strange thing: in Soviet times there was ideology, a socialist system, powerful ties, relations with other countries, half a world were under us - and now what? Now none of this. We have less than 2% of the gross domestic product, we have no ideology, nothing. At the same time, the passion to close, defend, be bought up - eat. Here she is from somewhere in those times and stems.

It is very pleasant when in the United States of America some organization will be made by a foreign agent (and according to American laws, you just need to fix that the organization is a foreign agent, that is, a completely different approach), then we will immediately hit. And then suddenly people want to watch something wrong, listen to something wrong, read something wrong! And here although everything is controlled. Well, maybe you can control everything if you have an ideology, a powerful army, the first or second in the world, an economy that can compete with the American one. If all this is not, then what to control? Protect the elite? This is such a return path, the path back.

What criteria can we be guided by in our actions regarding the media in the absence of ideology? The criterion will be only a desire to give an “adequate answer”: they say, we will repulse them, show that something else can, that we are still strong, that we still have gunpowder in powder. It is precisely in this sense that we will take and not let their broadcast, but at this time we will give our air, the best in the world! That is, this is just an attempt to respond, there is no other meaning in such actions. React - and, of course, protect the system.

Can there be some kind of reaction to these steps from the West? Everything can be: we live in a world in which they react more and more to each other. So you have deprived us of a number of embassy employees-and we will also deprive you of employees. And it went and went: a little more-and no one would have left. On the ambassador, only with us and with us - and that’s all. So new exacerbations are possible.

And I must also say that Russia is now turning into a very powerful factor in the consolidation of the West. If we continue this, then the West will be consolidated more and more. Here he is, the enemy, the West thinks: here is his enemy, the media with us, here he interferes with our elections, here he has a huge army! As a result, the same NATO alliance, which actually agonized, received reasons for existence.

So we create for the West the ability to consolidate, be together, be uniform. So they would have spread in their corners behind the absence of the enemy. And here, on the one hand, Islamic radicalism appeared, and on the other hand, we. There is why to unite, ”said Igor Bunin.
