The decision of the International Olympic Committee on the partial admission of Russian athletes to the Games in Pyeongchang in neutral status will be discussed at the Olympic Assembly. This was stated by the president of the Russian Olympic Committee, Alexander Zhukov, TASS reports
The meeting is planned to be held on December 12. "We have to discuss this decision, we assume that it will be discussed at the Olympic Assembly with the participation of athletes - candidates for participation in the Olympics, coaches and representatives of the federations. A final decision will be made on the terms of participation in the Olympic Games," Zhukov said.
At the same time, the President of the OKR noted a number of positive aspects of the IOC decision. In particular, Russian athletes are allowed to participate in team competitions, Zhukov emphasized. In addition, the IOC did not consider the accusations in support of the doping state.
"One of the positive decisions is that sanctions and investigations regarding Russian athletes related to doping are stopped from that moment," said the President of the OKR.
“In the case of the requirements of the IOC, removal from the OKR can be removed on the last day of the Olympics,” Zhukov said. “In this case, Russian athletes will be able to go under the country's flag at the closure ceremony.”
At the same time, Zhukov refused to talk about filing an appeal to the IOC decision to the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS). “This decision is so unchanged,” said the President of the OKR.
On Tuesday, at a meeting of the IOC Executive Committee in Lausanne, Zhukov apologized for violations of anti -doping rules. "I, as the president of the Olympic Committee of Russia, am apologizing for violations of the anti -doping rules that were committed in our country," Zhukov said .
“At the same time, I want to once again focus on the fact that today's decision will directly affect the fate of the new generation of Russian athletes, many of whom have the opportunity to speak at the upcoming Olympic Games,” the President of the OKR noted. “They cannot and should not be responsible for the previously committed violations, as well as to feel like outcasts at a large sports festival without a national identification, without a gym, without a gym. flag ".
The IOC Executive Committee refused to allow the Russian team to participate in the Winter Olympiad in Pyeongchang. Russian athletes are allowed to perform at the games in personal quality - under the neutral Olympic flag . The team is given the name "Olympic athletes from Russia", and when awarding Russians will sound the Olympic anthem.
Only those Russians who were not previously disqualified for doping or convicted of violation of anti -doping rules will be able to take part in the Olympics. Another condition for the admission is the passage of tests appointed by the special IOC commission.
The Olympic Committee of Russia is suspended from participation in the Games. Zhukov membership in the IOC is suspended. None of the functionaries of the Ministry of Sports of Russia will be accredited to the upcoming Olympics. For the former head of the Ministry of Sports, now Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko and the former deputy head of the Ministry of Sports of Yuri Nagorniy, a lifelong ban on accreditation was introduced.
OKR was recovered $ 15 million to create an international anti -doping committee.
