“Indefinite pickets” were not approved for protesting miners in the Rostov region

Authorities in the city of Gukovo in the Rostov region did not agree on "indefinite pickets" for protesting miners seeking payment of wage arrears. This was reported on the website "Caucasian Knot".

An initiative group of miners applied to hold pickets from December to March at three sites chosen by the administration. The response of the administration states that in two places the declared number of participants exceeds the maximum occupancy of the site. In addition, the authorities pointed out that the legislation does not provide for such a form of public event as an “indefinite picket”.

The applicants plan to submit a new notification on December 11, although the administration has already told them that they will not agree on it either.

On December 3, the miners of Gukov were already denied permission to hold public actions. Then they announced two pickets on December 4 and 5 at the Anthracite Palace of Culture, and the latter was also supposed to become “indefinite”. Previously, pickets with 98 participants were coordinated here, but this time the city administration officials answered that the maximum number of participants in the rally at this site was 47 people.

In October, the authorities refused to approve the multiple pickets that the miners planned from November to March. Officials demanded that the protesters submit notifications for each action separately.

The miners who worked in the Kingcoal group of companies demand payment of wage arrears. As the "Caucasian Knot" notes, referring to the calculations of the initiative group, they are owed 374 million rubles. The regional authorities said that the miners would be paid money only after the sale of the enterprise's property.
