Stephen Bruner was born in 1984 in Los Angeles in a musical family, his father, drummer Ronald Bruner, who played with Dayana Ross and The Temptions , his native brothers became Grammy laureates. At 16, Stephen already played in the metal group of his brother Suicidal Tendencies .
By the age of thirty, Thundercat managed to go on a tour with Snup Dogg and Erica Badu, release three solo albums and take part in the record of all Kendrick Lamara albums.
For the track “These Walls” with the Lamar plate “To Pimp a Butterfly”, Thundercat received Grammy in the “Best rap/song joint performance” nomination. Its six-string bass can be heard on the albums of Flying Lotus , Kimbra, Kamashi Washington and Childish Gambino.
Many of Thundercat’s friends - Kendrick Lamar, Farrell Williams, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Caliph Vusa, Kamashi Washington and Flying Lotus - worked on the tracks of his last studio album “Drunk” , which was released in February and already recognized as one of the best albums of 2017 publications like Billboard, Esquire, Nme and The Guardian .
