The court arrested the head of the forensic center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Pyotr Grishin.

The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested until February 5, 2018 the head of the Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant General Pyotr Grishin, who was charged with fraudulent theft of more than 90 million budget rubles (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code), reports . Interfax

“The court comes to the conclusion that the request of the investigative authorities must be granted. (...) Choose a preventive measure against the accused Grishin in the form of detention for a period until February 5, 2018,” the agency quotes Judge Natalya Dudar.

The defense asked not to send the general to a pre-trial detention center, since he must take care of his wife, suffering from cancer, and a sick young child. The prosecutor also asked to place Grishin under house arrest.

As the agency notes, earlier the court arrested the deputy head of the ECC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Oleg Mazur and businessman Sergei Narutov for the same period. None of them admit their guilt.

They are charged with three counts of theft of budget funds during the purchase of forensic equipment for regional expert units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to investigators, Grishin and Mazur ensured the conclusion of government contracts that were inflated by more than 80 million rubles with companies controlled by Naruto. The investigation believes that “illegally obtained profits by Naruto were distributed through companies controlled by him among members of the criminal group, that is, between Grishin, Mazur and other persons.”

On December 5, security forces conducted searches in the offices of Grishin and Mazur in the ECC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as in their home. The Ministry of Internal Affairs claims that Grishin had previously submitted a report on his dismissal from his position.
