In the West Bank, crowds of protesters set fire to tires and hurled rocks at Israeli troops. In the city of Bethlehem, troops fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. In Ramallah, the seat of the Palestinian government, protesters set tires on fire. Rallies were held in other cities in the West Bank.
US President Donald Trump announced that the US will recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital on December 6. He noted that he made such a decision in the interests of the United States, as well as to establish peace between Israel and Palestine. Members of the UN Security Council will meet on Friday, December 8, for an emergency meeting.
