The court extended the arrest of three defendants in the Bakhchisaray Hizb ut-Tahrir case

The Kiev District Court of Simferopol extended the arrest of three Crimean Tatars. They are accused of participating in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, recognized as extremist in Russia. It is reported by "Crimea. Realities".

Seyran Saliev, Memet Belyalov and Timur Ibragimov, along with three other defendants in the Bakhchisaray case of Hizb ut-Tahrir, were detained on October 11 after searches were made in their homes. Now all six will remain in custody until March 9.

At the hearing, the defense asked to change the measure of restraint to house arrest. The side of the investigation stated that if the men were released from the pre-trial detention center, they could “influence the course of the investigation, destroy evidence and hide on the territory of Ukraine.” The main reason for the extension of detention was that the police officers did not have time to complete all investigative activities.

The publication writes that Seyran Saliev and Timur Ibragimov have four young children. Memet Belyalov has one, and he also takes care of elderly parents.

“I am the father of four children, a visually impaired third group. I have just had a child, my wife cannot be torn apart, ”Ibragimov said in court.

Earlier, the lawyer of one of the accused said falsification in the documents of the investigation.

• On October 11, searches were carried out in the homes of six Crimean Tatars. They were detained. The lawyer reported that the men were transported with bags over their heads. One of them is accused of organizing terrorist activities (part 1 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code), five of them are accused of participating in terrorist activities (part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code).
• Hizb ut-Tahrir has been declared terrorist by the decision of the Supreme Court. However, a number of experts from human rights organizations, including the SOVA Center, believe that there are no grounds for this - members of Hizb ut-Tahrir were not seen to be involved in the commission or preparation of terrorist attacks.
