The UN Security Council will discuss the recognition of the United States Jerusalem by the capital of Israel

Eight out of fifteen members of the UN Security Council demanded that an extraordinary meeting was convened after the decision of US President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem the capital of Israel. It is reported by Reuters .

The request for a meeting on December 8 was filed by France, Bolivia, Egypt, Italy, Senegal, Sweden, Britain and Uruguay. UN Secretary General Antoniu Gutherresh also spoke out against one -sided measures that jeopardize the peaceful coexistence of the Israelis and Palestinians.

Palestane President Mahmud Abbas called Jerusalem the “eternal capital of Palestine” and compared Trump’s decision with the USA refusal to intermediary status in the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations.

The decision of the US president was criticized by representatives of the UK, France and Germany.

On December 6, Donald Trump officially recognized Jerusalem to the capital of Israel and announced the transfer of the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called this a historical event.
