All eight were incriminated part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code (organization of activities of a terrorist organization or participation in such) and part 1 of Article 282.2 (organization of activities of an extremist organization). On December 4, the defendants performed the last word. All of them did not plead guilty and stated that accusations of terrorism against them were referred and false.

All defendants were detained on October 14, 2014 during the joint operation of the FSB and the police and sent to the pre -trial detention center the next day.

Preliminary hearings in the case were supposedly held on August 8. Judging by the information on the court website, the process was led by a collegium chaired by Igor Pak. At a meeting on August 22, all defendants announced the abandonment of lawyers for their intended purpose . “For 3 years in custody, I was convinced that a lawyer is a formality,” the defendant Hevronin noted in his petition. “I was convinced of the injustice of the judicial system.” One prosecutor said a protest, and the judges refused to withdraw the appointed lawyers from the process.

Some of the defendants, according to Interfax, have previously been convicted repeatedly on charges of organizing the activities of the Hizb Ut-Tahrir.
