Evgeny Makarov, beaten in a Yaroslavl colony, reported threats and beatings

In Yaroslavl colony No. 8, prisoner Evgeny Makarov was beaten, who earlier, together with the Bolotnaya case defendant Ivan Nepomnyashchikh, complained of beating in colony No. 1. The Public Verdict foundation reports this on Facebook.

As lawyer Irina Biryukova told the foundation, Makarov was transferred from the first to the eighth colony in the Yaroslavl region several days ago. Now he is in a cell-type room (EPKT) “for constant complaints.”

According to human rights activists, during his transfer to the eighth colony, Makarov was beaten, “the prisoner’s legs, buttocks and possibly internal organs were broken off.” In addition, Makarov was threatened with rape.

Now lawyer Irina Biryukova has appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) with a request to conduct an immediate medical examination of Yevgeny Makarov and move him to a safe place.

In April 2017, Makarov, the Bolotnaya case defendant Ivan Nepomnyashchikh and another prisoner Ruslan Vakhapov stated that they were beaten by the special forces of the Federal Penitentiary Service. On June 29, Makarov was beaten again. According to Biryukova, they beat him hard, and Makarov had difficulty moving.
